Cell Phone Addict

Genre: Comedy/Romantic Comedy

Logline: What happens when the marketing director of a large cell phone company is addicted to his cell phone, and gets himself in hot water with his family, his co-workers, and the love of his life?

Trouble on a hilarious scale!

Synopsis: Jack Thompson is the new marketing director for Lifestyle Cell Phone, a hip international manufacturer of cell phones. In an attempt to cover up the emptiness of his life and his guilt over his wife walking out on him, he becomes addicted to his job, his cell phone, and his cell phone buddy, his co-worker, Sally Goldstein, herself a cell phone addict.  Then Jack meets Ruth Young, a school teacher who seems to have her life together.  Ruth takes pity on Jack’s plight, and wants to use her book, Miss Manners’ Guide to Cell Phone Etiquette, to make Jack into a better person and to help him raise his son, Kurt. At first, Jack goes along with the idea to gain Ruth’s affection, but he ultimately can’t follow the rules.  Ruth’s book becomes a worldwide bestseller. Ruth becomes the spokesperson for Lifestyle Cell Phone. Jack becomes jealous of Ruth’s success.  Sally can no longer stand Jack’s self-centeredness, drops Jack as a cell phone buddy, and marries Ruth’s brother Fred. Jack can’t handle the withdrawal and goes on a cell phone buddy talking spree with other women. Ruth finds out, blows up at Jack and drops a bombshell on Jack, his son, and Lifestyle Cell Phone, which threatens to destroy their relationship and the company. Will Lifestyle Cell Phone survive the attack? Will Jack and Ruth make up?

A comic tour de force which examines the effects of cell phones on our culture.
